Hockey player Alex Parker’s career has went downhill since his father died and after the latest screw-up only one team wanted to deal with him. Agent Charlotte (Coach) Coachman lets him live in one of her apartments and when he drank too much she decided to straighten his life and get him back on the right path. Coach had been there when her parents had drug issues and she ended up in foster care.There aren’t many times I like books when one character messes up but this time it really works in the story when the hero needed someone to kick him in the butt to fix his life and career.
Great book and well written! I can't wait for more of the face off series. Charlotte Coachman is Parkers agent who intends to help him clean up his reputation. Alex Parker is a womanizing bad boy who has a very bad reputation. I’m a sucker for a storyline with people who shouldn’t or can’t be together and Quinn played this one perfectly. Charlotte takes her job very seriously and her boss and father figure has a strict no dating policy between clients and agents, so no matter how badly she wants Parker, she can’t go there. The chemistry between these two was HOT and the sexual tension was heavy. Things change after the two met, and we get to see them develop as well throughout the book. The ending will leave your heart melting and will also leave you wanting for more.
I love sports romances! This is my first book by this author, and I liked it! The premise was intriguing - agent takes control of hockey star in order to help him him his life back in order. The heroine, Charlotte Coachman, was compelling - pretty, talented, smart, and self-made. The hero, Alex Parker, was initially tough to love but ultimately also compelling - handsome, talented, and rich, but grieving. They had good chemistry and some sizzle. The storyline was bittersweet. Overall, I liked it, and I’m looking forward to book two!
I really enjoyed this book. Both Alex and Coach are going through complications in their lives, Alex is self medicating himself with women and alcohol trying to distract from his father's death but only jeopardizing his hockey career with his stunts. Coach is a woman working in the male dominated world of sport agency. Coach sees more in Alex than his playboy ways and needs to help him, but when deeper feelings between the two jeopardizes Coach's job, her loyalty heavy choices need to be made.
This book has a lot of heart in it, and the way the characters behave feels real. The aftereffects of so much drinking - yup, I have a relative who went through the very same thing (only worse) and it’s not pretty.There is a little bit of a mystery going on with a big secondary character, Mickey, that isn’t answered in this book, but maybe in another book. He disappeared after a certain point.
Didn't know what I would think after reading the beginning of this book. Alex, a hockey player who was also an alcoholic and a constant manwhore. Charlotte was a coach as she stayed away from the athletes she monitored. Never mixing personal and business relationships until she tried to help Alex. This was my first book from this author.
First part of book is slow going to me. Background info on story, then the story gets moving. A messed up hockey player gets traded, meets his agent, gets taken under her wing. Then of course falls for her. Lots of ups and downs. Addition, injuries and hows of your youth play a part of this story. Love can conquer all.
Jillian Quinn rocks! I absolutely love hockey stories, this one by far has been super enjoyable. Coach is a strong, independent woman who does not mess around. She would never mix business with pleasure, but then Parker comes along. Parker was clearly headed on a downward spiral but pulls himself together. Could not put this book down. Great story!
