Easy to follow advice on how to quit fighting and arguing. These tips are really very good. I think the one that has helped me the most is the suggestion to make up my mind that no matter what, I am not going to argue. Before reading this Kindle book I didn't really understand how to have more self control. This book has provided specific direction on how I can quit arguing altogether. Although, I have still been fighting, I am not fighting as much as I was before reading this Kindle book. This means that I have made some progress, which the author says is a good thing. Amber says that change takes time and that I am not always going to do everything perfectly. I have learned how to forgive myself quickly when I do slip and argue. I have also been starting over with new beginnings through letting go of past events.

Stop Arguing. Now. How to Stop Arguing: Dealing with Stress, Anger, Rejection, Conflict, Fighting and Difficult People by Amber Rain is a great tool to help those in a bad situation. Also as it states in the disclaimer: you should adjust your use of the information and recommendations provided accordingly considering that no two situations are exactly alike. Also, I like the formatting of this book. Instead of chapters and long sections or paragraphs and prose, there is simply a list of tips. Though long, the list is quite effective. I am glad that this focuses on you as opposed to your argument partner. The tips can be used in practically every situation and during my reading I can recognize things I have done. The best tip of all is number forty nine in my opinion, just do not skip ahead to read it; all of the tips are really good.

Anyone who has been in any kind of relationship knows that people argue sometimes. Arguing can be healthy, if it's done in a way that is constructive instead of harmful, but when a couple argues too much, there is a problem. This book has a lot of great advice for people on how to deal with issues that cause anger and arguing to crop up between a couple. While I don't have much of a temper problem, I like to read books like this one in order to keep these kinds of helpful reminders fresh in my mind. One of the things I have observed over the years is that a lot of hurt feelings and arguing stem from pride and selfishness. Arguments happen less often when you take into consideration the other persons feelings over your own. Compromise is at the heart of any good relationship, and if you or your partner are each demanding their own way all the time, people are going to feel things like stress, rejection, and anger. While some anger can be a good thing (it tells us when someone has crossed a boundary we don't like) there are ways to minimize how explosive that anger can be.Learning to control your own self, and take responsibility for your own emotions and not let them control you, is one way to minimize arguing. This book helps the reader to explore their gut reactions and learn how to overcome them in a more healthy way, so that there is less conflict in the relationship. In my opinion, every person should read this book at some point in their lives.

I am a mom, girlfriend, daughter, and entertain several bosses through various jobs. There is not a day that goes by unless I am wholly by myself, locked in the bathroom, that I don't feel stressed. I try to plan out a weeks worth of life for a few different people while dealing with the day to day curve balls that life always seems to throw.I needed to find something to help me get myself in order, and Amber always seems to have something great. While the books does lean more towards arguments and keeping from fighting, it does help connect with stress. Sometimes when you have too much pent up stress every conversation can become a fight, and you hurt people along the way without thinking about. "How to Stop Arguing" helped me realize I could take the time in my conversations, not just give out rapid fire answers. When you slow down, and think about what you are doing, you find it easier to deal with everything around you.Amber's book helped me find better ways to say my thoughts, and helped me become more positive in my dealings. When I am positive, I find that others around me are happy as well! While the stress isn't completely gone, I found that I am breath a little lighter, and deal with a lot more curve balls.

The most sound advice in the book is the sure fire way of not arguing by simply not saying anything at all. In doing this there is virtually no way to argue because you are not adding to the argument if you are not saying anything. The self-control to do this takes a lot of practice and if you must respond then you should keep in mind is what you say true, kind, and necessary. By practicing some of the tips in the book you can be well on your way to not arguing and sometimes even defusing an argument before it even starts. Remember one thing once you have said something hurtful you can never take it back so sometimes silence is golden.

This was a quick read. There are some tools to help one deal with anger and fighting presented. I think being prepared to cope when things go awry would be great. Perhaps there is something helpful for anyone struggling with bickering inside this short book. Now I will reread it to try to add ideas more concretely when fussing is going on.

I liked studying this book. I will try some of its suggestions for dealing properly with somewhat rude relatives. I find it hard sometimes to keep quiet while the other person nags. I also want to cut back on nagging. I laughed at one part: "Use your head." I wish this book wasn't so short, though. It felt like a pair of petite pants.

I got this box set because it was free at the time, and the reviews were good. Throughout the first book and half of the second book I was happy with my "purchase". Some parts of the story line felt like a mashup of two other series I've read, the Maximum Ride series and the Lux novels, but since it isn't uncommon to have similar themes in the fantasy/sci-fi genres that didn't bother me too much. I was also pleasantly surprised with the author's technical skill, as this book was not riddled with the grammatical errors often found in books that are free.About halfway through the second book it turned into a struggle. Since I was over halfway through I didn't want to stop, so it became a challenge to finish and see if there was anything to come that would redeem the series overall. At times even the technical aspects (sentence structure, word choices) of the writing seemed very banal. However, my real issue was the lack of true adversity for the characters who were supposedly hiding/running for their lives. For example:**SPOILER ALERT**Find a mysterious cabin in the woods, it could be dangerous....nope, vacant and perfectly safe. We'll move in and confront the owner....good news, he's our benefactor, no worries there. Let's go to the warehouse and rescue the others, it will be dangerous, so we must practice our skills. Oh no, I had to actually use those skills we spent so much time practicing to get away safely! I'm a bad person because I hurt someone who was trying to kidnap me...waaaahhhh.**END SPOILERS**At some point during the third book, around the time Raven was introduced, things started to come back to life. Real problems and better writing surfaced once again to the point where I felt it was okay to give a third star.I just have one remaining issue: What was the point of Aaron? It seems his sole purpose was to create a situation in which Lena and Flint were able to reconnect, but his entire existence seemed completely unnecessary. You can easily find a way to get someone tossed from a horse without an otherwise useless character.Final note: If you like(d) the concept of this series and haven't read the two others I mentioned I highly recommend doing so.

I so enjoyed this trilogy. I had never read this author before and am so happy I found her. If you like fantasy, action, suspence, pg rated sex, and a book you just can't put down then your in luck. I am so glad I got the trilogy because then I didn't have to waste time at the end of books 1 and 2 going to buy them. As soon as I finished 1 book the next one was ready. She is a excellant writer and I can't wait to read more books by her. They kept my interest and had me laughing, crying and on the edge of my seat. I recommend this trilogy to everyone 100 percent.

I don't normally leave reviews but after reading this trilogy I felt compelled to. I have read hundreds, if not a thousand or more paranormal'ish e-books in the last five years of owning a Kindle.. while many were great reads by author's both new and familiar, this trilogy blew me away. I read all three full length novels over the weekend, so pretty much non stop other than when sleeping. I found myself feeling both sad to come to the end, and very satisfied with this read - individually and collectively, these e books were amazing and exceeded my expectations! AND ..I love that I found anew favorite author...

Lena, Flint, Di, Mica, father, Jacinda, Luke, Edgar, Jet, Jasper, Savannah and Raven.....all had something in common. All were stolen as children, some babies, and given an unspeakable amount of drugs to see if the perfect specimen could be created. Marcus, father and Albert all worked together. But when father saw that Marcus was evil incarnate, he took his group and fled. They were raised in isolation, but lives to see each day, which was more than some of the othersThey rescued Edgar, Luke and Savannah, which got them back in Marcus' radar. After 15 years and he still hunted them. Then....they captured Lena, the love of Flints life. Thinks will be resolved, one way or another. They accidentally find Rabin has been raised by Marcus. But he and Flunk and Di share more than just abilities. It's a good series. I got hooked on it.Read on my friends.

The Lost Children Trilogy is the best book(s) I've read in a long time. The story and characters grabbed me at the very beginning and held me captive for quite a while. I had actually gotten away from reading for a long time then I started these books and I just could not stop reading. I picked my Kindle up every chance I got and read, often into the wee hours. I loved the story line and really loved the characters. The books had non stop action and the story line was fluid and easy to read, very few if any grammatical errors. I hated to reach the "The End". I will be looking for more books from this author. Read it, I believe you will like it. I strongly recommend it.

What would you do if you woke up not knowing anything about yourself and then find out you are drawn to a whole group of people? In this series, Lena, Flint and the others all try to learn to deal with their lives after finding themselves together again after being rescued from a kidnapping research ring that led to some strange changes in them.As they move through the series, they find more of them are still being held and then try to free themselves of the final evil they have all shared.Street does a great job of developing the main characters and the surrounding characters. I really want Lena and her family to be free of their evil past, but are we ever truly free from our pasts?I can't wait to read the next series.

Sisterhood of the Squared Circle: The History and Rise of Women's Wrestling, by Pat Laprade

Review

“Laprade and Murphy, both veteran wrestling journalists, do an excellent job guiding readers chronologically through the ups and downs of women’s wrestling . . . Fascinating sports history.” ― Booklist “Pat Laprade and Dan Murphy’s Sisterhood of the Squared Circle is full of anecdotes and trivia from over a century of wrestling.” ― National Post “A concise, yet encyclopedic compendium of the past, present, and future of women’s wrestling, Sisterhood of the Squared Circle is an essential addition to the home libraries of astute wrestling aficionados. We give it 4.5 out of five suplexes.” ― Pro Wrestling Illustrated “I remember years ago I was at the Cauliflower Alley Club and Paul Boesch pointed out Clara Mortensen to me, saying she was the world champion of women’s wrestling before Mildred Burke. At that time, most people didn’t know there was women’s wrestling before Moolah. Boesch told me about names that almost nobody knew or remembered. Pat Laprade and Dan Murphy, in their book, change all that, as they tell the story of how women’s wrestling was born, grew, changed, and had its ups and downs all over the world. Sisterhood of the Squared Circle tells you about the stars of today who you may know and the stars who built the sport but are mostly unknown to modern fans.” ― Dave Meltzer, Wrestling Observer “Sisterhood of the Squared Circle is absolutely a must read for most fans. . . it is more than likely ― and justifiably so ― to be at or very near the top of the best wrestling books of the year. . . Laprade is becoming one of the top tier authors in the pro wrestling genre.” ― Wrestle Book Review “If there was a Master degree class on women’s wrestling, Laprade and Murphy’s book would be its textbook.” ― All Wrestling “All of the women they feature are written as the powerful, respected warriors that they were then and are now. . . Fighting ‘like a girl’ never sounded so good.” ― SLAM! Wrestling “Pat Laprade and Dan Murphy have delivered one of the most enjoyable and educational wrestling books I’ve read in a while. . . Sisterhood of the Squared Circle is a solid book and a must read for fans who love the history of this business.” ― Eat Sleep Wrestle “Informative, entertaining and at times, even heart wrenching, Sisterhood of the Squared Circle is mandatory reading not just for wrestling fans but for everyone. . . Through original interviews and previous research, with a great assist from the critically acclaimed Lipstick & Dynamite, Piss & Vinegar: The First Ladies of Wrestling documentary, Laprade and Murphy have made an essential contribution to pro wrestling.” ― Wrestledelphia.com “When Laprade and Murphy delve into the history of Women’s Professional Wrestling we see that the characters and stories are at least as fascinating as their male counterparts. With over a hundred wrestler profiles this is a must read for anyone who ever loved wrestling.” ― The Interrobang “The new book is organized as a series of short biographies of key players; when taken together, they form a tapestry that covers the entire industry.” ― Orlando Sentinel “This is an excellent piece for anyone interested in WWE's current female revolution.” ― Whatculture "Sisterhood of the Squared Circle  is an essential entry in the historiography of women's wrestling, breathing new life into voices that could all too easily have been lost." ― I Maintain The Double Foot Stomp Is Silly blog “Even if you have never seen a wrestling match in your life, you'll enjoy the triumphs, struggles, and personal histories of these women. Easily the best reference book on the history of professional women's wrestling from the early carnival days to the present as of 2017. There are many great biographies and autobiographies out there with both fans and detractors based on the wrestlers themselves and their fans. Pat Laprade, who is a leading authority on pro wrestling with a special fondness for women wrestlers, gives an unbiased view on the individual women themselves. As well as the history of the sport past and present. I titled this review an abridged history of professional women's wrestling which I feel it was. No doubt, there will be critics who will wonder why a certain time span or their favorite wrestler was not included or given more their due. In order for all time spans, promotions and wrestlers to be included would require volumes and vo!umes. Perhaps Pat will write more. One could only hope on this entertaining and well written subject. Check out more wrestling books by Pat Laprade for unique well researched and entertaining perspectives on professional wrestling.

This is a superb book whose time is long overdue.Women wrestlers have been a part of the business dating back to the 1800's, but their contributions have almost always been ignored and trivialized. Conservative, sexist social strictures literally made the participation of women in wrestling criminal in many states, including New York, where it was not legalized until the 1970's. The toughness and courage of women in wrestling, as in other pugilistic sports, has been downplayed and ignored. This has not only robbed women of the respect they earned and the money they generated, but has also stolen from fans an important and fascinating part of wrestling history. This book, along with the excellent documentary 'Lipstick and Dynamite' by Ruth Leitman, corrects that injustice in an entertaining and informative way.Published by ECW Press authors Pat Laprade and Dan Murphy have made an excellent addition to the growing cannon of books chronicling professional wrestling. My own library has shelves of wrestling books but very few are about women’s wrestling. Jeff Leen’s “Queen of the Ring” (an excellent and engrossing book about Mildred Burke) is a notable exception. Prior to the very recent release of AJ Mendez Brooks ‘Crazy is My Superpower’, the only published wrestling biographies by women were those by Lita, Moolah, and the late Joanie Laurer (aka Chyna, whose pariah status in WWE is indefensible). Tammy Stych, Missy Hyatt, and Jeanie Clark also have books, but all three were valets, with only Stych having some experience as a wrestler/in-ring performer.Sisterhood offers a brief but enlightening section on the pioneers of women in wrestling in the 19th and early 20th century. Scott Beekman's 'Ringside: A History of Professional Wrestling in America' offers a detailed account of the full history of wrestling in the US for readers looking for more. The performers of the Billy Wolfe and Lilian Ellison (Moolah) eras are detailed next, before the 1980's Rock and Wrestling era is covered. There are nice breakout pieces throughout on topics such as the legalization of women's wrestling, the 'original screwjob' and the apartment wrestling phenomenon. For more on that particular topic, the Taschen photo book 'Exquisite Mayhem' juxtaposes the fetishistic apartment wrestling phenomenon with the LA Olympic wrestling scene of the 70's and 80's. The section on GLOW was also enlightening (there is a great documentary on that promotion available as well). The book contains well over 400 pages of brief, but detailed and illustrated career profiles of over 100 women wrestlers, organized chronologically, by era. From Minerva to Manami Toyota, from Mae Young to Sexy Star, and from Mildred Burke to Sasha Banks this book takes us across the globe and across time. The reference style and formatting of the book is similar to that of ‘The Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame’ book series (also by ECW Press). There are excellent chapters on international women's wrestling (Japan, Mexico, Australia, and the UK are covered), SHIMMER, and the growing Indy scene.Sisterhood chronicles the ongoing, uphill battle for respect in and out of the ring by the cadre of brave and tough athletes. The book concludes with chapters on the women of NXT, the death of the diva's title/resurrection of the women’s title, the 'women's revolution', and the future of women's wrestling in consideration of Stephanie McMahon's push of the division. Ronda Rousey's impact on women in fight sports is discussed - women were denied the right to compete in the UFC by that company until 2011 - when that discrimination ended, in large part, due to Rousey, who is on the WWE women's division 'wishlist'.Sisterhood also contains an excellent introduction by Nattie Neidhart, whose work (including famous matches with Charlotte Flair) helped to demand the respect that modern women wrestlers are finally starting to receive. This is an excellent and much needed book on the history and evolution of women’s wrestling. It’s highly readable, packed with interviews, images and enlightening insights into a subject too long marginalized.Well done and highly recommended.

When I entered my preteens, I finally found out the channel that broadcasts Monday Night Raw. One of the first memories I have as a regular watcher of WWE was Candice Michelle vs Beth Phoenix 2 out of 3 falls match. I didn't know anyone involved in the match, but those two pulled me into the match. When Candice Michelle fell from the top rope and injured herself it put a permanent memory in my mind. No, it wasn't a technical masterpiece; however, the fact that they laid it all on the line made me respect not only them, but female wrestling in general. From that point on, I was a lifelong women's wrestling fan.I started to research women of the past and present. I watched their matches just as much as I watched the matches of my favorite wrestler, The Undertaker. As I grew into my teenage years, I am twenty at the time of this writing, I began to look up women's wrestling outside of WWE. I learned that women were capable of doing more than what they were in WWE through the work of women like Manami Toyota, Akira Hokuto, Aja Kong, Amazing Kong, and Gail Kim. That is what kept me eager for the 2 minute Diva matches during the "Bathroom Break era" of WWE women's wrestling. When I would visit wrestling websites and see the endless bashing of WWE's Divas, I would always shake my head and think 'yeah, but those are my girls.' The Divas and other women's wrestlers were all my girls, some of them just needed a chance to shine.Honestly, to see how far women's wrestling in general has come, fills me with such gladness. Its just like a big "I told you so" to all the haters and bashers. Women's wrestling right now, is in a time of prominence. This book is a celebration of said prominence. It not only covers the notable and celebrated, but also the forgotten and unsung. It covers wrestlers and there are some you will be inspired by. There is also clarification on the injustices of the Fabulous Moolah. It also chronicles important events and moments in women's wrestling history. You can tell that absolute care was taken when developing this book. It is truly amazing, and a must read for any women's wrestling fan. Hopefully, this will not be the last of books such as this one.

For any woman who is trying to break into the industry or is a fan of women's wrestling, this book is a great piece of information on where and when it all started, and the women that came before them. Great read.

I enjoyed reading abut the history of womans wrestling. Lots of names I remember from years gone by also many others never knew.Must read for all wrestling history buffs.

I was completely enthralled by this book from the moment I opened it. Absolutely loved reading the individual stories of so many female wrestlers from both the past and present. Got a little bored the closer the stories/profiles got to modern day (mostly because I already knew a lot of those histories) but still enjoyed finding out some smaller details.

John Adams has been the most overlooked of the American Founders. David McCulough's large, epic-scaled biography seeks to correct this omission and to bring the character and achievement of Adams alive for today's reader.McCullough describes well the essential role Adams played in his long life in our Nation's founding. The stages of Adams career, each filled in their own way with accomplishment, can be divided as follows: 1. early years as a young attorney culminating in his courageous defense of the British militia responsible for the Boston Massacre; 2. ceaseless advocate for American Independence during the First Continental Congress; 3. Diplomat to France and Holland during the Revolutionary War and American negotiator of the peace treaty; 4. Diplomat to Britain to negotiate commercial treaties for the fledgling nation 5. first Vice-President of the United States; 6. second President of the United States who successfully kept the country out of war with France; 7. retirement in Quincy. Each of these periods of Adams's life is described in detail with good attention paid to giving the reader a feel for time and place. I thought the descriptions of early Philadelphia and of Paris both before and after the Revolution were well done.McCullough also concentrates on Adams's character. He emphasizes his honesty and integrity, admitted to even by his opponents, his love of learning, his relationship with his remarkable wife Abigail and his sometimes sad relationships with his children, and his relationship with other leading figures of the time including, of course, Jefferson, Washington, and Franklin and many others. Adams's vanity, his sharp temper, and his ambition also come through well in the book. For all of Adams's accomplishments, I was most impressed with the final stage of his life following his 1800 loss of the Presidency to Thomas Jefferson. Adams retired to his farm in Quincy, Massachusetts and devoted himself to reading and to extensive correspondence. In particular, Adams and Thomas Jefferson effected a reconciliation following the conclusions of their Presidencies and exchanged a remarkable series of letters on their thoughts on government, their political experiences, their reading, and simply on growing older and wiser. These letters are indeed treasures of American literature and thought. Both Adams and Jefferson died on July 4, 1826, the fiftieth anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, as befitting the stature they have for our country. Virtually on his deathbed, Adams was asked for a toast for the celebration. He responded with the words that are the title of this review. This is a deservedly poplular book. May it awaken in the reader an appreciation of our country's revolutionary past and a devotion to its present.

I don't know how to describe this book. I am an avid reader but have not read a lot of history because I never seemed to finish the books. I couldn't stop reading this one. Have you ever been so engaged that you walk and read and the same time? That you carry the book with you everywhere you go in the hopes you will have a spare minute to crack it open and absorb a few pages? Well this book did that for me. I did not think I would find John Adams compelling but the book won a Pulitzer and I had heard the hype so I thought "why not?". This book is very well written. It covers the scope of John Adams' life in it's entirety - with honesty and sensitivity. I was inspired by the genius cluster that founded our nation, the danger and uncertainty they went through with complete fortitude. This book is so relevant today because it helps us understand the thought and consideration Adams and other men went through when considering the construction of our government and their understanding of human nature that provided them the insight to create laws that to this day afford us the freedoms we enjoy. The topics of women's rights, slavery, military strength, the economy, immigration are all touched on as they had the forethought to understand what was coming. I wish there were more people serving in public office today like those original founders and especially John Adams.

The difficulty in reviewing a book like David McCullough's "John Adams" is that you know that whatever you write, it will not do the book justice. So, with that said, I will affirm that this is one of the best books I have ever read, much less one of the best biographies. It has been said that McCullough "rescued" Adams from relative obscurity, and I must agree. Having read this most important story, it is amazing to me that there is no monument on the National Mall in honor of John Adams. There are numerous points in his career where it may be said that if not for John Adams, the United States of America would not exist. His importance in our history cannot be overstated. I am glad that Tom Hanks took it upon himself to produce an award-winning miniseries based on this book, so that many more Americans who will not undertake its reading, may still benefit from the story of its hero. Let me just state a couple of brief takeaways: 1) Two of the most long-lasting and defining attributes of America are its form of government (bicameral legislature, strong executive, and independent judiciary), and the peaceful transfer of power; and 2) that there is nothing new under the sun. If you think that the extremes of speech or action undertaken in our times regarding elections, manipulation, the press, or the extreme passions on every part of the political spectrum are new, then you need to read more history. Compared to what has gone before us in this great nation, I am more convinced than ever, that we will be just fine.
