Fantastic book. First, I was not sure if I should get this book because I have already bought "The Private World of Yves Saint Laurent & Pierre Berge". I'm so glad that I did. Each book has it own strength. This book is more about the individual item. It gives you a close up look with more background information. The quality of the book is very good. I'm so glad that I did not miss this book.
It is a catalog that displayed and sold a collection of great Earthly beauty in its highest form. What a collection these two had! It will never be duplicated, but this book is the only place where these pieces exist together again from this day on.Own it: you'll not regret it.
Filled with gorgeous photos, and details of items, this book is a treasure. A glimpse into the taste and style of one of the great artists of our time. Wonderful.
Excellent Book and got in a timely manner.
This is a beautiful production and ideal for anyone interested in the items auctioned who was unable to get - or afford- the set of Christies Catalogs . There are interesting photos of the auction room and wonderful pictures of the original rooms and many of the items. It ends with a complete catalog of the auction in very tiny photos. The main negative about this publication is the small print on metallic gold paper which is extremely difficult to read.
Definite collectors piece - well produced!
just beautiful. amazingly detailed full page images of most items in the sale as well a thumbnail index in the back. A total bargain considering that the ACTUAL Christie's auction catalogs sell on Ebay at close to $1000.
