This book may help kids deal with their general, everyday troubles and issues. It is true that one's attitude can make all the difference in a conflict, whether internal or external. But I wouldn't want to give or read this book to a child who has suffered abuse, or just lost a loved one. The attitude adjustments suggested are for normal kid-sized problems, not for the biggies that too many children today must face. I think it is misleading to say that "I got this" is enough to handle everything life may throw at you.
I use this book at school with kids I work with. They love the dragon and his antics. I do not love the very thin paper.The hardcover versions are very cheap and paper tears easily, the paper backs have thicker paper but not title on the spine. I have 5 and won't purchase more for this reason.
My son absolutely loved this story. I got it because he goes through the same things Diggory Doo goes through and I wanted to teach him that he isn't the only one and how to stand up and say, "I got this!"
He just turned 7 and they are so applicable a d he enjoys learning from them. He says he wants more! We've read 4 so far.
Both my granddaughters loved this book and readily asked questions and were very receptive to the meaning behind the story.
My daughter needed this little bit of motivation before school started back up. The positive usage of “I got this†has worked wonders in seeing her turn negative situations into having a positive outlook.
I bought the whole series, this is definitely one of my favorites. It's great for personal use, and for therapeutic purposes too.
My son loves this book. He loves all of them, actually. He will read them for hours, and he relates to and applies the teachings from the books. I’m one happy mom!!!
